Fine Art Scene of Bronte Country, Haworth Yorkshire

The Bronte sisters lived in the parsonage at Haworth during their most creative writing spell. It is quite remarkable that not just one but three sisters from the same family should become well known and respected as powerful English authors. Charlotte's "Jane Eyre" and Emily's "Wuthering Heights" are timeless well-known classics.

They lived in the parsonage for over 40 years from 1820 and the moor's dramatic landscape and the character of Haworth influenced their writings more than any other factors.

Haworth itself is situated at the top of a steep hill and is visited by thousands of visitors every year. The parsonage is now the world famous Bronte Mueseum and the church where their father was curate stands nearby.

It is sad to reflect that neither girl lived a long life, what other novels could have come from them can only be the subject of specualtion and conjecture. That they left a firm imprint on English Literature is beyond doubt.

To stroll through Haworth today is to stroll through history.
