The Cortina Mk III was more adventurously styled than the Mk II featuring kicked-up rear wings it soon became known as 'coke-bottle' styling. This car featured a new Pinto 2.0 litre engine at the top end of the range.
Notes
The Cortina Mk III used the L, XL & GXL badging to start with but the top level Cortinas were given the E badge instead of GXL. The car also started life with 2 or 4 round headlights but ended its life with 2 square headlights.
Convertibles
The Cortina III made an attractive convertible with examples from several coachbuilders.
Police
The Cortina III remained a favourite with the forces. This example coming from the Lancashire Police force.
Estate
The Cortina always featured a roomy estate and Mk III was no exception with over 150,000 examples sold.
