As well as the various Land Rover series I, II and III, 90's, defenders, 110's etc Land Rover also recognised a new market existed for its products and took the world by surprise with the Range Rover. The car that set the standards for luxury 4x4 motoring is still regarded as the one to beat. Making use of the versatile V8 Rover engine the Range Rover proved that 4x4 could be aspirational vehicles.
Police
The police have used many Land Rovers for their duties but in the Range Rover found the perfect traffic car. It could take a vast cargo was quick enough to respond in emergencies and strong enough to tow most vehicles onto a hard shoulder.
