As Range Rover went through its first generation life it was gradually improved and made more luxurious.More engine types were offered, a 3.9 and 4.2 litre being available and a 2.5 litre diesel followed.
In this market segment a 5 door offering was seen as a standard requirement and it is surprising that it took so long before one was offered.
Since then all range rovers have been 5 door SUVs.
